LYNC Transportation Services is seeking a dependable, professional Standby Driver to provide immediate morning route coverage when unexpected driver call-outs, late arrivals, route disruptions, or other urgent transportation needs occur. This is a dedicated standby position. The primary responsibility is to remain ready and available for immediate deployment during the scheduled standby window.
Schedule
- Part-time, school-year schedule, Monday through Friday on scheduled operating days.
- Regular standby hours: 5:00 a.m.–8:00 a.m.
- The employee must report on time and remain available for immediate assignment throughout the full standby window.

- Additional hours or assignments may be offered separately based on business needs, but they are not part of the regular Standby Driver schedule.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Report and be ready for immediate deployment at the start of the scheduled standby shift.
- Provide emergency or short-notice route coverage for unexpected driver absences, late arrivals, service disruptions, or other urgent transportation needs.
- Safely transport students and other authorized passengers on assigned routes and schedules.
- Follow all assigned route instructions, passenger requirements, safety procedures, and Company transportation policies.
- Assist students with boarding, exiting, seating, and securement as needed.

- Use Company-issued technology and transportation systems as required to complete assigned routes and required documentation.

- Complete limited transportation-readiness duties when not deployed, such as confirming vehicle readiness, required equipment, and other directly related standby tasks.
Standby Availability Expectations
The effectiveness of this position depends on reliable early-morning availability. The Standby Driver must be prepared to accept and begin an assignment immediately when directed. - Ability to effectively use Company-issued technology and electronic systems.
- Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, flexibility, and sound judgment.
- Ability to learn and safely cover multiple routes and service areas as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience transporting students or passengers, operating passenger vans, or providing school transportation services.
- Familiarity with Philadelphia and surrounding service areas.
- Experience working in a relief, substitute, on-call, or standby driving capacity.
Conditions of Employment
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion and continued maintenance of all applicable driver credentialing, background, safety, training, motor vehicle, and pre-employment requirements established by law, contract, insurance, or Company policy.
